Description

 

The appearance of platinum black is a very fine black powder. The apparent density is 15.8-17.6. Soluble in aqua regia. Usually, it accumulates on the surface of asbestos or other porous materials. Platinum black and platinum (asbestos) can absorb a large amount of hydrogen, oxygen and other gases, and can be used as catalysts in many gas reactions. Chloroplatinic acid electrolysis can also coat the surface of platinum or gold electrodes with platinum black, which is often used as a hydrogen electrode or other gas electrodes in electrochemistry.
